I
learned to play the guitar from my brother-in-law,
"T Boy Judice,"
at the age of 8. I aggravated my family for years
while learning to play and sing, and then in 1968
at age 13, we started a band called "The
School Slaves." The band included some neighborhood
kids: Arlene, Errol, Merlene, Scott and Lercy.
We should have called ourselves Proud Mary, cause
that's all we could play! Then in 1974, we started
a band called "The Cajun Country Band"
with Tommy Landry, Ray "Nookie" Landry
and Gil Louviere. Our first Gig was at Red's Levee
Bar---$10 (divided by four) and all we could drink,
we had a blast!
After
"The Cajun Country Band," I joined a
band called "Bittersweet", and we performed
some great Aerosmith and stuff. A few more bands
included "Haystak", a good little country
band and "Allen Wayne and Friends."
I was the stand-up singer for "Allen Wayne
and Friends," and we played at Signorelli's's
in St. Martinville and had a really successful
two year run. After that, we started a band called
"BlueLeather", and we were a very popular
Country and Variety band in the local area.
In
1978, I was asked to join a new band being formed
with some guys from New Iberia, and we called
ourselves.... The NIKLBEER Band!
I am married to Renee Boudreaux and have
two daughters "Genee and Terin," a son
"Pete" and a New Grand Daughter "Kenedi."
I am the owner and operator of Catahoula Crawfish
Company, where we process Crawfish and Alligator
meat.
